Fairfield Awarded BEF Grants

Cory Jacobs Accepts A Grant From Bethel Education Foundation

Escorted by a brass band, Bethel Education Foundation representatives marched down the school halls and awarded more than $700 in grants to Fairfield, and all our students will benefit.

A $500 award will allow us to purchase more great reading material for our Morning Book Club, giving all Fairfield students a chance to come inside the school and read rather than wait outside in the cold morning weather.

And a $250 BEF mini-grant will aid in the expansion of Fairfield’s school garden. Six more wooden containers will be installed, and after-school garden classes will be offered.

The Bethel Education Foundation was created by some active Bethel parents last August and has been raising money for Bethel school projects. Go to, http://www.betheleducationfoundation.org/,  the BEF website for more information…and YES, they will gladly accept your donation toward future mini-grants.

Popcorn Fridays Are Fun

Volunteers Tony L., Melissa L., Robin B, and students Kathryn B and Courtney K.

Fairfield parent volunteers help the PTO pop popcorn every other Friday.  Popcorn sells for 25 cents a bag.

Proceeds from sales go to many things at Fairfield including but not limited to, new technology, fieldtrips, library books, recess equipment, supporting our Fairfield Falcon from Cascade Raptor Center and much more.

Thank you to everyone who helps Fairfield students feel success and for supporting our school.

3rd Graders Use Imagination In Art

3rd Grade Proudly Display Their Creative Fish

The 3rd grade at Fairfield has been studying the theme of Imagination for the past 6 weeks.

They have been reading things like: “Picasso”, “Roxaboxen”, “The Chalkbox Kid”, and “The Emperor’s New Clothes”.

They are winding the theme up with beautiful paintings of fish in the Cubist style, as well as doing an “Imagination recycle Project” (photos of that soon to come).

Reading Is Out Of This World

3rd Grade Students Katelin Mellott, Cora Whitsell, and Clara Lloyd Enjoy the Rocket

This year's theme in the library is Space.  Travel through the solar system, explore the constallations, and examine the galaxies.

Come in and check out books and the rocket.

A special thanks to Mike & Dustie Rose and Gordon & Alicia Allen, Fairfield parents, who pooled their resources and creative thoughts to make the rocket a main attraction in the library.

Spirit of Giving

Students take pride in choosing gifts.

The Spirit of Giving was held December 17 in the cafeteria and was a great success.

It was an event where students were given an opportunity to earn falcon feathers for positive behavior during the school year and cash them in to purchase gift items for family members.

Falcon feathers can still be earned by students and cashed in for various prizes and opportunities throughout the year.

Hair Raising Experience at Fairfield

1st grader Lydia Barker joins in the fun on crazy hair day.

Hairspray, funky do’s, Mohawks, and wigs in a rainbow of colors.  It was part of a school wide celebration on Friday.

Students were rewarded for meeting their goal for class acts earned in the month of October.  Kids showed their spirit by wearing crazy hats and wacky hairdo’s.

If kids continue to meet their goals, they will be rewarded with a Crazy Shirt Day in November.
