Mr. James: Bands, BEF and Student Achievement!

Parents, Families and Friends,

Today the BEF (Bethel Education Foundation) presented two mini-grants to Irving's Amy Seery (5th grade) and Janelle Moss (2nd grade).

At the fifth grade level, the funds will be used to purchase math manipulatives and hands-on learning tools. These will be needed and utilize as we make the shift to the new math standards.

In second grade, the grant will purchase an Open Court reading library. This purchase will fit perfectly with our core curriculum. It will also allow teachers to efficiently use a listening library that connects nicely with daily lessons and units.

Both teachers were pleasantly surprised as they were greeted by BEF board members, Colt Gill and members of the Willamette High School Marching band. Thanks to everyone who has donated to the foundation. This is a great example of putting our money to work in quick fashion.
